REVIEWS

quote A small family style Malaysian restaurant at a busy Kew Junction. There is street parking in the front and more parking at the back. The food is authentic and the serving portion is generous. The highlight for me is the CKT. The Wat Tan Hor is good too. The Chicken Laksa tastes good but the soup is a bit thick to my liking. I will definitely be back to try other dishes.

quote Very nice Malaysian restaurant in Kew, accessible by transport, two tram services. The atmosphere is Malaysian and the inside is quite nice. There are not too many tables but the place can get busy on weekends, so if you are two or more, I would recommend booking. The food is really tasty and you can select from a good variety of chicken, beef, pork cans seafood. The prices are moderate and affordable. If you like to try something different that you don’t usually see too often, try the sweet and sour prawns (yes, prawns, not pork, although they have the pork as well). I would recommend a visit to this restaurant.

quote Beautiful fresh and delicious food at a family run restaurant. Simple interior, kids up the back entertaining themselves while the older kids and adults run front of house and kitchen - a sure indicator you're in for some great authentic home style food. And it delivers in bags - everything was delicious, but especially the curry puffs and roti with curry sauce. Definitely returning.

quote I have been to this cafe 4 times to buy takeaways. The first time on 29/4 was a pleasant experience. The Hainanese Chicken Rice was nice but there was no soup with the meal. The Char Kway Teow was also good. However, it took at least 30minutes for the takeaways to be ready. The guy who served me was pleasant and friendly. As I live locally I went again on Sat 30/4 to buy takeaways but that cafe was closed with a sign at the door. It didn't worry me as I am a local but I can understand if those who live further away were upset. On Tuesday 3/5 I went to this cafe to buy takeaways at 1:45pm. Was told they didn't have Chicken Rice nor Char Kway Teow. I was thinking what the heck but decided to cut them some slack as they were new to the game. On Wednesday 4/5 I went again to buy takeaways and was told they didn't have Hainanese Chicken Rice but Char Kway Teow was available. I was told it would take 30 to 40 minutes for the takeaway to be ready. The CKT was ready in that time period and it tasted great. Then I returned on Tuesday 10/5 and bought takeaway Char Kway Teow. Was advised by an abrupt waitress that it will be ready in 30 minutes. When I returned after 30minutes the takeaway was NOT ready and was asked to wait as they will cook it immediately. I was thinking surely after opening over 2 weeks the Cafe should be able to get the meal ready in 30 minutes when other cafes can get the meal ready in 20 minutes. I had to wait an extra 10 minutes which to me is a waste of my time. Also this cafe only opens at 1pm when other cafes at Kew, Hawthorn, Richmond and Abbotsford open at 11:30am to 12noon. The Char Kway Teow I bought on 10/5 ,despite the increase in price, did not have the quality of the previous 2 Char Kway Teow as it seems to be laden with MSG and had burnt edges. It was edible but disappointing. May not return although I am a local. Returned for Char Kway Teow, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Chicken Curry Nasi Lemak in November and December and must say that there is a massive improvement in wait time. I only had to wait 5-10 minutes for my meal and all 4 times the quality of the food has been excellent. Well done. Lack of bags for wet umbrellas. Woman owner always abrupt and unfriendly although man owner has good customer service skills. Quality of food inconsistent. Varies from excellent to average. However they try their best. So gave them a 3*

quote In-Depth Review: Food 5/5 *Nasi Lemak Beef - Extremely soft melt in your mouth beef, paired with coconut rice, the usual Nasi Lemak toppings. Each ingredient was perfectly seasoned. Best Nasi Lemak in Melbourne! *Fried Rice Noodles Beef & Seafood - These noodles are easily the best Hor Fun easily I've had in Melbourne and Malaysia! The beef noodles however was really oily, so less would be ideal, but the seafood was spicy and had a big kick of spice, but was absolutely delicious with the "Wok Hei" element *Lobak - Freshly fried, resembled a fried Sausage Roll, cut in slices. Unique, but having more than 2 slices was too heavy for me. Definitely keep this in moderation! *Roti - Harder than usual, it could be softer or less heat applied. This is probably my only feedback! Value 10/5 *For the price you pay, it's 100% worth it! Save yourself a ticket to Malaysia and just come to Kew! Atmosphere 4/5 *No Frills Style Restaurant. Nothing special but nothing amazing to mention. Clean and bright. Customer Service 5/5 *No issues, friendly and professional. Overall *Save money by going here, not buying a ticket to Malaysia! Excellent food, do not miss this if you are after Melbourne's Best Malaysian! I liked the lemon infuser water offered as well! The Roti could be softer so maybe pan fry it or apply less heat.
